Red tea cup and saucer - 1930s Bavarian Trettau vintage luncheon set
A vintage tea luncheon set made by Trettau, in Bavaria, Germany, in the 1930s. The fine porcelain teacup, matching tea saucer and luncheon plate feature a delicate 22K edging, and gold floral and geometric pattern on a white and deep red background. (The red color is a cross between a ruby red and a dark Christmas red.) The gold decorative design is similar to what you would see on some Indian saris - so the set has an interesting Europe-meets-the-Spice-Road feel to it.
The 22K gold pattern is beautiful throughout the cup and saucer design. There are no signs of wear on the 22K gold edging on the rims, foot, or handle of the cup and saucer. A unique gift idea for any tea loving Mother, Grandma, sister, bride or friend.
Condition: Very clean and pristine set, with no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs.
