Halloween is the one time of year when sipping on a glow-in-the-dark drink out of a chemistry beaker - or wandering around a party with black-colored teeth - is an awesome idea. It also happens to be one of my favorite holidays. A friend of mine was hosting a Zombie party one recent Halloween, and asked me to pull together something that was sweet, pretty and sparkling for her signature drink - and help continue the party theme.
I love tomatoes. My husband David would say I'm a bit obsessed with them.
When we lived in Indiana, I always grew a few varieties. (I'm a Brandywine fan, myself.) But I can't pass up the chance to try something new. Which is how I ended up in our kitchen, facing down a mountain of tomatoes and not knowing what the heck I was going to do with them all.
Forget super-sweet lemonades and sports drinks this summer, and make water – flavored water, to be more specific. Water that has been naturally infused with herbs, fruit or vegetables is a small luxury that is super easy to make, has gorgeous flavor and is oh-so-refreshing.
Plus side: It helps everyone drink more water without all the extra sugar and calories of soda! And when these waters are presented in a vintage Mason jar or beautifully colored glass bottle, it makes a charming addition to any table....
While the weather here in the Midwest is whip-sawing between cold and dreary, and hot and muggy, it is officially the strangest summer I can remember in years. Either way, we're refusing to wear coats - and are channeling the fun we've had at the beach with pitchers of our favorite mango margaritas.
We’ve been working on our new line of custom and DIY popcorn bars for weddings and corporate events, and we’re so excited that it's almost ready to launch! This weekend, David and I will get to see proofs of the photos from our recent product photo shoot. Eeeeep!!
The idea for the new line came about after we had heard from brides (and frankly, a ton of grooms) saying that they wanted to serve something different at their wedding reception – something that guests could munch on either before dinner or afterward, while dancing the night away.
Each person is different – and each client has their own comfort level with handling DIY projects. Here are some things to keep in mind, if you're going to host a popcorn bar.
